Atrocious experience. Unfortunate because I really enjoyed and had recommended them up until today. I even reached out to a friend who recently asked about them and rescinded what I had said. I’ve also been with Starry for almost 2 years so let this be an example of how they treat people who have been with them for some time.
Internet was cut off in the middle of the night, absolutely no communication that this would be happening. One email that did not mention it at all in the subject line. In any case, I was told that due to COVID they would not be cutting off anyone’s internet, however, this policy apparently ended in august but was not made known to customers. In return, I got incredibly bad service from their customer service lead who took 4 emails to answer a single question all while being snarky by copy and pasting a previous email in its entirety even though it was completely unrelated to my question.
I ended an email with “f***ing hell” out of frustration, directed really at the situation and it got turned over to a shift lead. Shift lead regurgitated same bs, didn’t answer my question so clearly didn’t read the email, so I asked if they needed me to explain in detail, that caused it to be turned over to the manager!! At that point I was clearly not being treated with respect and the TEAM LEAD has the nerve to tell me how I should be behave. How about you go deal with unemployment for 7 months and then get asked to deal with your incompetent employees who I assume are getting paid, but for what?
In a time where I’m actively looking for work and interviewing this is a crucial blow but there was no empathy. If I’m going to get that kind of service and apathy then I’ll just go back to Comcast for much better internet even though it’s not the best service but you know what you’re getting going in. Also there’s no way I would have been unaware my internet was going to be cut off with Comcast. Days of having to now apply to jobs on my phone and take video interviews on my phone because Starry is another company under the assumption that the pandemic is over and no longer effecting people.
Starry also sent someone to my apartment at the height of the pandemic in April...to plug in a router. No other option they said, should’ve recognized the incompetence immediately.
Speeds not as advertised and I can provide proof of that, but I let it slide cause I thought they were cool, it’s just like any other company. So go with Comcast cause if it’s just down to the product starry isn’t that great.

I recently switched from Comcast to STARRY, and I am so grateful I did! My internet has improved in speed, accessibility, but most significantly, affordability! My monthly bill has been reduced by over $100!
I recommend STARRY to everyone out there! Thank you STARRY!

I can't believe an internet provider…

I can't believe an internet provider could be so good. Not a single issue. Internet never goes down and the price cant be beat. Customer service is top notch.

Great service! Goodbye Spectrum!

I live in NYC, and until recently I had no choice but Spectrum, who kept on increasing their prices and fees. When Starry became available for my building, I immediately signed up. I originally signed up for the 200Mbps+ package, but downgraded it to the 100Mbps package as that was more than enough for my usage. The prices are great (lower than Spectrum, no extra taxes or fees), the speeds have been consistent and customer service has been excellent. I have been recommending the service to various people in my building. Thanks for the great service!

Meh.. had higher expectations

I really really wanted to love Starry. When I started having issues with Xfinity I switched completely and started using streaming services instead of cable. Starry is fast, so I'm giving them 2 stars for that. Fast internet is only good when the connection is reliable. The connection keeps fizzling out. It'll have download speeds close to 300 and then the next test will show 50 down then 3 down. It'll ramp back up to 200 and then 30 then 2. It does not consistently stay fast. Streaming an hour long show is frustrating.
Several other people in my building (Argonne in Washington DC) are complaining of the same thing. I called support many times, got the new modem, and still have to deal with this happening. I work from home right now, so when I 'm on a video chat it's embarrassing. I'm hoping that writing this review will prompt somebody to look closer at the issue in the entire building, and that you won't just suggest I call support - again.

I had trouble with rebooting my router…

I had trouble with rebooting my router as part of an issue I experienced with my music system, which runs off of Wi-Fi. Starry customer service promptly scheduled an appointment, during which the router was replaced with the newest model that had just come out. I'm extremely happy with the service I received, and would highly recommend Starry to anyone considering signing up for their service.
